Ashaw has always been fascinated by stories, whether they're happening in a newsroom, hidden inside a gemstone, or unfolding during everyday conversations.
Originally from Ottawa, Ashaw’s broadcasting career kicked off in Northern Ontario, where she quickly learned that journalism could take you just about anywhere. Over the years, Ashaw has covered everything from forest fires and election campaigns to truck drag races and community celebrations. If there's a story worth telling, Ashaw wants to be there.
Since then, Ashaw has worn many hats, including television host, news anchor, reporter, videographer, weather presenter, and journalist, connecting with audiences across Canada and even earning the York Regional Police Best Feature Story Award along the way.
More recently, Ashaw followed another long-time curiosity into the world of jewellery and gemstones. What began as a hobby became a passion, leading her to complete the Gemological Institute of America's Applied Jewelry Professional program. She is pursuing her Graduate Gemologist designation and continues to be amazed by the science, history, and beauty behind every stone.
Whether Ashaw is chatting with viewers on air, sharing what she’s learned about diamonds, or exploring a brand-new topic, Ashaw is driven by the same thing that's motivated her from the start: a love of learning, a curiosity about the world, and a desire to connect with people through great storytelling.
