Product Overview

This is a high grade choice uncirculated example of Canada’s first silver dollar struck for circulation in 1935. It has been independently third party certified as "Choice Uncirculated" 64 by ICCS (International Coin Certification Service), Canada’s most respected and trusted grading service. The coin is also a scarce variety where there is distinct doubling on the voyageur design and on the XXV in the writing around the effigy of the King.

Original silver coins dating back to the 1930s often have some golden or light brown surface toning. This is natural oxidation which is considered normal, and even desirable, by many collectors. The coin comes protected and security sealed in standard ICCS certification holder, including the assigned grade of MS-64 and a unique certification number.

The reverse design features a native Canadian and a Voyageur paddling a canoe. In the canoe are bundles of goods; the bundles at the right are marked with “HB”, representing the Hudson’s Bay Company. The vertical lines in the background represent the aurora borealis. The obverse design features a portrait of King George V wearing the Imperial Crown.
