1954 $100 Bank of Canada PCGS Certified Gem Uncirculated 65

This 1954 $100 bank note in pristine near perfect uncirculated condition, with the signatures at the bottom showing Beattie as the deputy governor of the Bank of Canada and Coyne as the governor.  

While banknotes are normally dated the year the design is introduced, the signatures on the notes are changed each time there is a change in the Deputy Governor or Governor of the Bank of Canada. Most advanced collectors of Canadian banknotes seek to complete a collection with all the signatures. Quite often, certain signatures are much scarcer and more valuable than others. This is the oldest and scarcest signature combinations for the 1954 modified $100 note issue. The note comes protected in a professional bank note display holder.

When the new series of notes was introduced in 1954, very few people had the opportunity to use the $100 denomination. $100 in 1954 was the equivalent to more than $1000 today.  

This Bank of Canada in 1954 $100 note has been independently third party certified by Paper Money Guarantee Corporation (PCGS) as “Gem Uncirculated 65”. PCGS is the one of the largest and most widely recognized companies providing independent third-party grading of banknotes.
