1920 Dime PCGS Certified Gem Uncirculated MS-65

This is a rare high-grade example of Canada's 10-cent silver coin issued in 1920. It has been independently authenticated and graded by PCGS, the largest and most respected third-party grading service in the world. The grade assigned to this coin is Gem Uncirculated MS-65, meaning it is a sharply struck near-perfect brilliant uncirculated coin with original mint lustre and attractive eye appeal.

Only about two hundred 1920 dimes have been certified in any uncirculated grade, with these MS-65 coins being some of the highest quality surviving coins from this issue.  Historically, it has been these highest-quality coins which have appreciated most in value. Canadian Coin and Currency has recently discovered a small group of these coins that were put away in 1914 and never touched for nearly 100 years. The quality of these coins is excellent, with some of the finest coins in this group being graded as MS-65.

Coin Design and Composition
The reverse of this coin features a wreath of 22 maple leaves, with the date and denomination in the centre. The obverse features the imperial crowned portrait of King George V. The coins are struck in .925 sterling silver.

Grading Uncirculated Coins
For the collector of superb Canadian coins, coins are broken down into various grades of uncirculated. Since an uncirculated coin simply means that it never went into circulation, it will usually still have marks and imperfections as a result of being handled at the mint or being shipped in canvas bags with other coins. The coins which are in the very highest uncirculated conditions are usually extremely rare. The grade and authenticity of the coin is often certified by an independent third-party grading service. While a coin graded MS-60 will show many typical bag marks, a coin graded MS-65 or higher will typically appear to be near-perfect, with only minute imperfections. Superb uncirculated coins are usually extremely rare, and command significant premiums to collectors.
