2013 25-Cent Prehistoric Animals Coloured Glow-in-the-Dark Quetzalcoatlus
Shipping: $9.99
Across the plains and highlands of the Western Interior Seaway that covered the centre of the North American continent more than 65 million years ago soared one of the largest animals ever to take to the air: Quetzalcoatlus. This pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous period was a large, lightweight lizard with a long, stiff neck, a sharp bill and a wingspan of up to 10 metres.
This stunning painted coin illustrates paleontologists' rendition of what Quetzalcoatlus probably looked like—and when the coin is removed from natural light, the prehistoric creature's skeleton is revealed. The scientific accuracy of the depiction was verified by paleontologists of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology.
