Spring Style Is Here
Product Overview

According to the Chinese zodiac, 2019 is the Year of the Pig. This fine silver coin celebrates traditional Chinese-Canadian culture and honours all who are born under the sign of the pig—an auspicious animal known for its playfulness, intelligence, loyalty and confidence. The coin is dated 2019 with a $10 denomination and weighs just over a half-ounce of pure silver.

The reverse image by artist Simon Ng features a stylized depiction of the happy-go-lucky pig trotting along beneath the Chinese character for pig. Artistic flourishes convey the animal's warm and positive character, as well as its traditional association with friendship and confidence. Wherever it goes, the pig carries luck in the form of the stylized hydrangea and daisy found within the pig's rounded shape, along with an auspicious lotus flower on its cheek. The pig's integrity, generosity, loyalty and optimism give it strength for its journey, but a second lucky daisy atop the traditional Chinese latticework may also double its fortunes. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
