Estate Originals 14K Yellow Gold Oval Horse and Chariot Stone Cameo Brooch/Pendant

This exquisite oval-shaped onyx pictorial cameo pendant/brooch showcases a beautifully detailed scene of a three horse-drawn chariot, driven by two Roman gladiators. The helmeted driver is dressed in full Roman battle dress and the naked passenger, also helmeted, wields a sword and holds a shield. Lying on the ground, underneath the chariot is the slain body of another soldier, and a second slain soldier can be found under the wheel of the chariot. The fine detail of this rare and intricate carving can be further seen in the spokes of the wheel and horse design engraved on the carriage. Intricately hand carved in high-contrasting black and white onyx, this cameo is bezel set into 14K yellow gold and is framed by a rectangular shaped border that flows, in a scalloped design around the outside, with negative space between the corners and cameo. Five diamonds are set into the curved gold on each corner. The depiction of the chariot and warriors captures the strength and valour of ancient Rome, offering a classic and captivating design.
