About Todd English Today award-winning chef, restaurateur, author and television personality Todd English began his cooking career at the young age of 15. Five years later, he joined the Culinary Institute of America, where he graduated in 1982 with honours. At New York’s La Cote Basque, English ripen his techniques with the guidance of Jean Jacques Rachou and then relocated to Italy. He worked in the well-established Dal Pescatore in Canneto sull’Oglio and Paracucchi in Locanda dell’Angelo, where he developed his unique style. Back to the United States, at 25, Todd English took over as Executive Chef of the award-winning Italian restaurant, Michela's, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Only three years later, in 1989, he was opening his first restaurant, Olives, a 50-seat storefront in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The restaurant attracted immediate national and international attention to English’s culinary, and his name started to appear in prestigious magazines. But this was only the beginning… English has created an astonishing list of successful restaurant concepts, including Figs, Tuscany, blueZoo, Todd English P.U.B., MXDC and others. Todd English is considered one of the most decorated, respected, and charismatic chefs in the world. During his remarkable career, he published four critically-acclaimed cookbooks and produced his own TV series for PBS called Food Trip with Todd English. He is also a celebrated host and chef for high-profile events, including Super Bowl, Sundance Film Festival, NASCAR, and The Tony Awards. English has won the James Beard Award five times, and his show garnered an Emmy nomination in 2008.
