Product Overview
A symbol of the power and vastness of our nation's northern landscape, the polar bear is king of the Canadian Arctic. And no wonder: not only is Canada home to the largest polar bear population on earth, but this massive beast can survive and thrive in our country's harshest climates.

Canadian artist Pierre Leduc presents an engraved full-face portrait of a polar bear against the background of a frozen, wind-swept, snow-encrusted environment stretching out to the horizon. The artist's image details to stunning effect the polar bear's small ears, fur-ringed eyes and thick fur. Its distinctive black nose and eyes stand out in sharp contrast to its shaggy light-coloured body. The coin's outer polished border frames the entire image within an inner field. The reverse also features a stylized polar bear paw print, the engraved word "Canada," the date "2013," and the face value of "5 dollars."
